Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are urging that a person who jumped a barricade and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the Australian man bypassing photographers and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a promenade flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed includes clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further response on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for digital services to ban Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.

The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
