Information Available About the Those Lost of the Bondi Shooting
A minimum of 16 individuals lost their lives and over 40 were wounded when assailants fired on a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian police have labeled a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, officials have stated the death toll stands at 16, including one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 wounded individuals were admitted to hospital.
The victims are still awaiting publicly named, but investigators think their ages span from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Known as a father of five children, he was the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and acquaintances spoke of him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a relative said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their youngest child just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman also lost his life, according to his wife.
She told the events before the shooting, explaining they were standing when the shooting erupted. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she recalled.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having experienced unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had later immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French foreign ministry have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Publicly, a senior official expressed that France stood with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must put a stop to,” the message read.
One Child
A child who was rushed to the Sydney Children’s Hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was a fatality during the attack, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospitals, many are still receiving treatment, with a number in a critical state. The injured comprise two police officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to confront one of the attackers. Described as a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he described the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also praised the response of those who came to assist. He said he believed it was a “miracle” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the attack. He told reporters he listened to “dozens and dozens” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he explained. “I’ve been shot myself. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
