Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the team in the wake of the uproar from his televised remarks.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a European match following voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were never meant to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, playing well and securing victories.”
