Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
