The Perfect Pokémon Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution According to the Astrological Sign

This return of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited widespread excitement across the community. Starting with the one-by-one reveal of newcomers before the title's launch, to players forming strong opinions on the full lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's a lot for enthusiasts to anticipate.

With many of the Super Forms boasting unique designs that highlight their personalities, one idea came to mind: How can link this with zodiac signs? This list is based on a mix of intuition, common zodiac traits, and personal experience.

Aries – Mega Camerupt

To be truthful, Houndour's evolution was almost selected for Aries, as both are the Mega Pokémon and zodiac symbol that evoke the most fear. But, a Mega Houndoom appears as constantly furious, which doesn't match the Aries vibe, known for being fun, cheerful, and spontaneous. This makes the Ram much more akin to Mega Camerupt, which only erupts when provoked. Stay on the friendly side of either and benefit from a powerful partner; should you offend them, prepare to face the consequences.

Taurus – Mega Heracross

Much like a devoted Bull, the steadfast Heracross species, both in its standard and Super Form, has assisted numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. While trustworthy, each the creature and a Taurus are still battle-oriented, and – whether it's their companion or a firm belief – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Mega Heracross that recalls most of my Taurus friends, though, is its unashamed passion for treats. Several previous Pokédex entries note their craving for sweet tree sap and how it employs its horn to hoard it all, which is pure Taurus energy.

The Twins – Super Medicham

Observe this absolute royalty. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the life of every party, offering an constant fountain of gossip to anyone who wish to hear. Much like an enrapturing, sociable Gemini, it's very easy to imagine Mega Medicham captivating an whole Wild Zone with their stories. Medicham’s official description also states its capacity to predict an opponent's next moves, which seems quite like a socially-savvy Twins.

The Crab – Super Manectric

The Crab is commonly regarded as the most sensitive sign of the astrological wheel, a passionate symbol known for frequently getting absorbed in their emotions. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution charges the creature with a “tremendous quantity of energy, but it's too much for Manectric to completely manage,” which seems a lot like a typical Crab emotional outburst. It is also known for its ability to create a thundercloud over its own head – and if there’s one thing a Cancer is likely to do, it’s spoil their own parade.

Leo – Super Starmie

Well, did you think I was planning to select Pyroar for the lion of the zodiac? Besides the fact that it would be much too on the nose, Leo is clearly Mega Starmie, the star whose gams just went viral for being too fabulous (or horrifying, based on your preference). Players couldn’t look away from the purple sea star, and that’s exactly the same energy a Lion brings to the scene. This Pokémon is also rumored to be broadcasting radio waves from its center out into space, and it’s just like a Leo to be putting on a performance, even if for extraterrestrials.

The Maiden – Mega Victreebel

The always-ready and constantly-worried Virgo is ideally encapsulated in Mega Victreebel, the Mega with constant acid reflux. The zodiac symbol famous for being endearingly critical is strongly reflected throughout this creature's entire evolutionary chain, from a always surprised face like a Virgo when you tell them you lack a 401(k), to its upside-down face that’s just like the emoji a Virgo posts to the chatroom when all says they want to “be spontaneous” instead of creating a strategy.

The Scales – Mega Audino

Observe this gentle, sensitive being, who uses the feelers on its ears to detect how others are emotionally by their heartbeat. Always empathetic – occasionally to a detriment – and striving to keep the harmony, there are numerous Scales who would probably benefit from Super Audino's abilities. However, let’s be honest, it would probably just cause them to stress even more about everyone else.

Scorpio – Super Banette

This Ghost-type is a Pokémon with a unexpectedly tragic backstory: Abandoned as a doll, it became consciousness through pure resentment and swore revenge on its former owner. According to the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “enhances its spitefulness.” That seems precisely like many conversations I’ve had with my intense Scorpio acquaintances. A Scorpio loves cosmic justice and comeuppance, making them the ideal pair with Super Banette.

The Archer – Mega Hawlucha

Each Mega Hawlucha and Archers are constantly staging a performance. As a Archer myself, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some version of a “silly little jester” is countless. The showiest and most obnoxious Super Form, its Pokédex entry even notes how it “flexes to display its strength.” I would do the exact same thing if I had some kind of Mega evolved form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can imagine.

The Goat – Super Absol

Were you aware that a Mega Absol has the power to foresee disasters in advance? That gives the exact same energy as a Goat, who often always think they’re correct. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they often are. It’s also the absolute first Super Form that players meet in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to get in on the beginning of the Super Form craze.

The Water Bearer – Mega Chandelure

Aloof air sign Aquarius is possibly the non-flame placement that is most like a fire sign – its counterpart is Leo, and there are countless memes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being unpredictable accomplices. Mega Chandelure’s dual Ghost/Fire typing fits seamlessly with this, and the Mega’s overall intimidating aura is also extremely Water Bearer. If you hadn't yet convinced, the Super Form's description says it “absorbs hatred and transforms it into strength.” If that fails to perfectly {encaps
